Business Development Manager

We are seeking a Business Development Manager for the Northeast region (including Boston and New England) to drive sales and expand their assigned territory. This role will report to the Sales Manager. A successful candidate will have an enthusiastic entrepreneurial work ethic. This person will work closely with Marketing, Product Managers and Customer Service groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development of appropriate territory and account-specific sales plan for each of the product lines in the portfolio to meet assigned sales quotas
  • Successfully manage a complex sales process for capital equipment, consumables and synthetic libraries
  • Deliver effective scientific/technical presentations and demonstrations of the Telesis Bio portfolio
  • Demonstrate, install and gain customer acceptance of Telesis Bio’s BioXp system at customer sites
  • Provide regular updates on progress towards meeting assigned quotas
  • Utilization and maintenance of CRM database
  • Accurately manage sales pipeline activities by managing existing customers and continuously working to expand our customer base
  • Attend trade shows and conferences when possible
  • Work remotely, out of a home office
  • All other duties as assigned or necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years or equivalent commercial, sales and business development experience
  • Experience selling complex capital equipment is a must
  • Strong relationships in Pharma, Biotech and Research organizations is a must
  • Relationships in Drug Discovery, Antibody Engineering, Vaccine Development and Biological Drug Development is a plus
  • Strong knowledge base of molecular biology methods including PCR, cloning, DNA synthesis, and DNA libraries
  • Understand drug discovery and synthetic biology workflows
  • Experience in cloning and Gibson assembly is a plus
  • Demonstrated track record in lead generation and prospecting
  • A proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Strong desire to win business and establish long-term customer relationships
  • Confident, energetic, “hunter” mentality
  • Highly adaptable and independent
  • Thrive in a start-up, rapidly growing company environment
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills, great computer skills
  • Take initiative and have a growth mindset

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences required, graduate degree preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Estimated travel is up to 50%
