Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include the following, other duties may be assigned at the company’s sole discretion.

The Oligo Lab Tech I will review all incoming orders, export, organize and load onto synthesizers in the most efficient manner to ensure turnaround is met the same day and/or next day. They will follow all Oligo lab SOPs to ensure quality and successful completion of Oligo production from load to post-synthesis and purification per customer request. The Oligo Lab Tech I maintains machines with weekly calibrations and checks and cleans machines regularly, as well as assisting with fixing synthesizers when they go down.

Job responsibilities will also include the following: assist with receiving orders, organizing orders to efficiency for loading synthesizers, loading synthesizers, checking/loading chemicals/reagents before start of synthesis, maintaining lab and machines with regular clean up, tip filling, calibration, etc. as well as assisting with the post synthesis process, oligo preparation, packaging, and hand off to courier. Your duties may change from time to time during your employment at Eton depending on your own preference and the company’s need.

2. Cross train in Sequencing Lab

Pre-Hire Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s or Associate Degree required with science related major, preferably Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry – recent grads are welcome

2. Prior lab experience or academic undergraduate bench work required

3. Quick learner

4. Detail oriented and meticulous

5. Has excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills

6. Sense of urgency

7. Proactive, needs little guidance once trained

8. Proficient in MS Office

9. Willing to work overtime when needed

Preferred but not required:

1. Familiarity with lab environment in an academic or work setting

2. Familiar with the use of pipettes

3. Have some basic knowledge of oligonucleotides or oligonucleotide synthesis

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use the stairs, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms with equipment needed to accomplish the job tasks. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
